Koh Samui had more peaceable seaside resort island than Phuket, Koh Samui nevertheless accounts for over 900,000 visitors annually.
Urbanization has developed mainly on the east and partially on the northern coasts. The route leading to the beaches of Chaweng and
Lama is a recurrent sequence of hotels, boutiques, agencies, restaurants and cybercafes. Fortunately the impression of saturation
completely disappears on the beach where hotels are well concealed in the vegetation. Koh Samui's urban regulations limit the heights
of constructions along the shore so, contrary to Phuket, hotels are mostly lorise bungalows.
the 21 by 25 kilometers isle is small and undulating and the coast is scattered with odd granite formations weathered by the elements.
the mountain interior is essentially the realm of coconut trees, palm trees and durian trees and hardly any forest remains on the isle.
Cat lovers will notice the princely treatment reserved for the numerous cats of koh samui, comfortably curled up in the stalls on soft cushions.
